Jesús and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Puerto Rico present a concert in celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the Casals Festival, March 12 in Puerto Rico. Following this engagement, he then travels to Minneapolis March 18-19, leading the renowned Minnesota Orchestra in his debut with the ensemble, on Schumann's Overture to Manfred, de Falla's Suites No. 1 and 2 from The Three Cornered Hat, Ravel's Rapsodie espagnole, and acclaimed pianist Andreas Haefliger is featured on Schumann's Piano Concerto.
López-Cobos and the Seattle Symphony present concerts featuring masterworks by great Russian composers, including Glinka's Summer Night in Madrid, Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto with rising star violinist Augustin Hadelich, and Rimsky-Korsakov's ever-popular Scheherazade, March 24-26 at Benaroya Hall. Then, for the first time in more than a decade, Jesús returns to conduct the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, where he was Music Director for 15 seasons. He and the CSO present Mahler's spectacular Ninth Symphony on March 31 and April 2, which they also recorded on the Telarc label.
