American Concert Tour
20 October 2015
Following several appearances throughout Europe, Jesús López Cobos travels to North America in early 2016 to lead some of the continent's most acclaimed orchestras. He returns to the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra from January 22-24, with a programme featuring Brahms' Piano Concerto No. 1 with pianist Garrick Ohlsson, Dvořák's Eighth Symphony, and the West Coast premiere of Halffter's Tiento del primer tono y batalla imperial.
Jesús joins the Orquesta Sinfónica de Puerto Rico for the 60th Anniversary of the Casals Festival, March 12 in Puerto Rico. He then travels to Minneapolis March 18-19, leading the acclaimed Minnesota Orchestra on Schumann's Overture to Manfred, de Falla's Suites No. 1 and 2 from The Three Cornered Hat, Ravel's Rapsodie espagnole, and pianist Andreas Haefliger is featured on Schumann's Piano Concerto.
From March 24-26 López Cobos and the Seattle Symphony present concerts featuring masterworks by great Russian composers, including Glinka's Summer Night in Madrid, Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto with violinist Augustin Hadelich, and Rimsky-Korsakov's ever-popular Scheherazade. And for the first time in over a decade, Jesús returns to conduct the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, where he was Music Director for 15 seasons. He and the CSO present Mahler's epic Ninth Symphony on March 31 and April 2, which they also recorded on the Telarc label.
